1Things you may want to know this week
(November 1, 2024)
1. NEW LOOK! Our parish website now has a new look. Check it out, although it is still a work-in-progress, and we are just doing a test run. We thank Brent Villalobos for his time, effort and expertise in revamping our website. We also thank Gary DeMartini and Joe Yanke who started and built our website 27 years ago. I especially thank Gary for devotedly updating the contents of the website all these years. We certainly are reaping the fruits of what they have planted.
2. NEW ENVIRONMENT: Some words of thanks to the Cress Family who is relocating to Novato to be near family and friends. The couple, Andy and Julie, had been so active and supportive in the life and mission of our parish church and school. The Advent Wreath hanging by the school windows, the Christmas lights, the Christmas Tree sale, the bricks in front of the church, the sound system, etc., will always remind us of this wonderful couple. Their children, Dante and Lauren, both went to St. Robert’s School and were altar servers. Lauren sang with the school Liturgical choir. We wish them well in their new environment to carry the same mission of Christ to their new parish community.
3. At this morning’s Mass, we celebrated the Solemnity of All Saints. Our 5th graders dressed up as saints of their choice and processed to the altar. They will do the same this Sunday at the 9:30 a.m. Mass. Both the Mass and hospitality immediately following are being sponsored by the 7th Graders and their families.
4. Tomorrow, November 2, we celebrate All Souls Day. We remember and pray for those who have gone before us. The regularly scheduled Mass at 8:15 a.m. is being offered for All Souls. In the evening, besides the 4:30 p.m. Vigil Mass, we will have a special Remembrance Mass at 7 p.m. for our parishioners who have died from November of last year to October of this year. Since it falls on a Saturday evening, we will be using Sunday’s Liturgy, i.e., all the Readings will be taken from 31st Sunday in Ordinary Time. It also means that if you go to this Mass, you will already have fulfilled your Sunday obligation. We thank Judy Kerrigan and the Grief and Consolation Ministry for organizing this special Mass for our deceased parishioners.
5. St. Robert’s 40th Annual Golf Tournament and Dinner will be held this Monday, November 4. This tournament is one of the primary ways in which the Men’s Club of St. Robert’s raises money to support the athletic and extracurricular activities for the boys and girls of our school. The monthly dinner meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Hennessy Hall and is open to all men of the parish. For questions please email Rico at ricomedinasanbruno@yahoo.com.
6. DON’T FORGET:
Next Friday, November 8 is the School’s Grandparents and Special Persons Day with a special Mass at 9:30 a.m.
Daylight saving time will end on Sunday, November 3 at 2 a.m. when we “fall back” and gain an extra hour of sleep. This means that 2 a.m. becomes 1:00 a.m. local standard time.
Tuesday, November 5, is Election Day. Exercise your right of suffrage. We pray for a peaceful and honest election and transition. Pray for our country.
